मैं एक सपना देखता हूँ इस धरती का

प्रसिद्ध अश्‍वेत अमेरिकी कवि लैंग्‍सटन ह्यूज

मैं एक ऐसी धरती का सपना देखता हूँ

जहाँ आदमी आदमी से घृणा नहीं करे

जहाँ धरती प्रेम के आशीर्वाद से पगी हो

और रास्ते शान्ति की अल्पना से सुसज्जित

मैं एक ऐसी धरती का सपना देखता हूँ

जहाँ सभी को आज़ादी की मिठास मिले

जहाँ अन्तरात्मा को लालच मार नहीं सके

जहाँ धन का लोभ हमारे दिनों को नष्ट नहीं कर सके

मैं एक ऐसी धरती का सपना देखता हूँ

जहाँ काले या गोरे चाहे जिस भी नस्ल के तुम रहो

धरती की सम्पदा का तुम्हारा हिस्सा तुम्हें मिले

जहाँ हर आदमी आज़ाद हो

जहाँ सिर झुकाये खड़ी हो दुरावस्था

जहाँ मोतियों-सा अच्छल हो आनन्द

और सबकी ज़रूरतें पूरी हों

ऐसा ही सपना देखता हूँ मैं इस धरती का

No other man will scorn,

Where love will bless the earth

And peace its paths adorn

I dream a world where all

Will know sweet freedom's way,

Where greed no longer saps the soul

Nor avarice blights our day.

A world I dream where black or white,

Whatever race you be,

Will share the bounties of the earth

And every man is free,

Where wretchedness will hang its head

And joy, like a pearl,

Attends the needs of all mankind-

Of such I dream, my world!
